As the principal of Hackney Community College, I’m really pleased to offer you such a varied range of courses. With so many subjects, knowing which one to choose might not be that easy.

But don’t worry; our qualified advisers and tutors will listen to your needs, talk to you about your predicted grades and recommend the best course for you.

We’re different to schools and sixth form colleges, as we also offer courses for people over the age of 19. So as well as being part of a much larger organisation, you’ll be mixing with people of different ages and backgrounds. There are no bells, no uniform – but we do expect you to turn up on time, work hard and do your homework – so you’ll have every chance to succeed.

Our students frequently comment on what a stunning campus Shoreditch is. What’s more, our students feel safe on campus. Our security staff are all highly trained - and friendly too!

People enjoy learning at Hackney Community College - and they succeed. You can too!

What Subjects can I choose from ?

Hackney Community College offers a huge variety of courses. In addition to your full-time course, you could choose to take a short or part-time course. For example, you could study a BTEC Certificate or Diploma as well as AS levels. Or, you could take an evening language class, or join the gym and take fitness classes; your options are endless!

With the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics coming up, there’s never been a better time for people who live or study in East London. And, you’re just the right age group to really benefit from the employment opportunities that this event is bringing. From tourism and construction to IT and business, the city’s needs are almost endless! And our courses are designed to meet these needs – and much more.

What support can I expect?

We offer all kinds of support to help you achieve your goals. This includes an additional learning support team, for people with specific learning or physical difficulties; a fully equipped learning resources centre, with highly qualified librarians to help you find the information you need; advisers and counsellors to help with course, financial or personal questions you may have – and much more!

And our student liaison team will help make sure that as well as studying hard, you also get to play hard.
